Madrid to host nfl game with special programming, reinforcing its status as a sports capital

On 8 November, the Cincinnati Bengals will face the Atlanta Falcons at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid. In anticipation of this event, Plaza de España and Casa de las Alhajas will offer interactive experiences, meet-and-greet opportunities with American football legends, and an exhibition of the Vince Lombardi Trophy on 6 and 7 November.

Madrid's mayor, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, alongside the delegate for Culture, Tourism and Sport, Marta Rivera de la Cruz, and the sports councillor, Sonia Cea, unveiled three giant nfl helmets at the Palacio de Cibeles this morning. Two of the helmets represent the competing teams, while the third pays tribute to Madrid as the host city.

Almeida praised the “incredible success” of last year's event and expressed excitement that the nfl has chosen to return to Madrid, allowing the city to once again enjoy “a unique sporting event.” He emphasised that this match will help solidify Madrid's reputation as “one of the great global sports capitals” and highlighted the significant “direct and indirect economic return” associated with hosting such events.

As Madrid prepares to host an nfl regular-season game for the second consecutive year, a special programme of free activities will take place across the city in the days leading up to the match. Notably, the nfl Experience Madrid will be held on 6 and 7 November in Plaza de España from 10:00 to 19:00. This event will feature interactive American football experiences, a flag football field, activities with local sports clubs, appearances by nfl legends, cheerleaders, and team mascots, as well as musical performances.

During the same days, Casa de las Alhajas, located in Plaza de San Martín, will host nfl House Madrid Created with Adobe from 12:00 to 20:00. Fans will have the opportunity to view the Vince Lombardi Trophy and the 60 Super Bowl championship rings, as well as participate in interactive experiences that blend sport, technology, and creativity. Access to both activities will be free, with prior registration required through the nfl OnePass app.

The programme will also include the opening of the official nfl Shop at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium from 5 to 9 November, where fans can purchase merchandise from the participating teams and exclusive collections created for the 2026 nfl Madrid Game.
