More than 30 activities planned for the Santa Gertrudis festivities

Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera is preparing to celebrate its patron saint festivities with a diverse programme featuring more than 30 activities throughout November and into early December. The parish will host a variety of events, including sports competitions, concerts, children's activities, gastronomic gatherings, and traditional ceremonies.

The main day of the festivities will be on Monday, 16 November, coinciding with the feast day of Santa Gertrudis. The day's events will begin at 12:00 with a solemn mass, followed by a procession and a traditional dance performance by the Grupo de Bailes Tradicionales Santa Gertrudis. The celebrations will continue at 19:00 in the Plaza del Parque with a humorous monologue by Sr. Corrales.

Music and gastronomy will play a significant role in this year's festivities. Notable events include the third EiViFest, a local wine fair scheduled for Saturday, 14 November, from 13:00 to 00:00 in the Plaza del Parque. The fair will feature music from Vermut a 45 RPM, food stalls, and a concert by Miss Indispensables at 19:00, showcasing popular indie, rock, and Spanish pop songs. The musical festivities will continue at 21:00 with DJ Toni Torres.

Food enthusiasts will not want to miss the seventh World Rice with Peppers and Pieces Competition on Sunday, 22 November, starting at 12:00. This event will include a communal lunch at 14:00 and a Bingo Trudis at 16:00, also in the Plaza del Parque.

Sports will also be a highlight of the celebrations, with various competitions planned. The programme includes the XIII Santa Gertrudis Tennis Tournament, the Patronal Equestrian Trophy, the BiciKids children's activity, and the XVIII Sobrassada Race, which will take place on Saturday, 21 November, at 16:30. Additionally, the first Santa Eulària Orientation Race 2026 will be held on Saturday, 28 November, featuring family-friendly routes.

Children will have their own dedicated activities, including an inflatable castle party, workshops from S’Espurna, and events organised by CEIP Santa Gertrudis. Students from the school will also contribute to decorating the village with artistic installations, posters, and traditional games, culminating in a concert by Arredefolk on 13 November.

This year, primary school students from CEIP Santa Gertrudis, aged up to 12, have taken a prominent role in designing the festival programme. They have created illustrations inspired by traditional Ibizan jewellery, particularly focusing on the 'emprendada', rings, and buttons, which are characteristic of the island's traditional attire. Through these drawings, the children have expressed their unique perspective on these elements of the island's cultural heritage, turning the festival programme into a tribute to Ibizan traditions and a means of engaging younger generations.

The festivities will conclude on Saturday, 5 December, with a communal lunch hosted by Manos Unidas at the Santa Gertrudis restaurant.
