Club náutico sancti petri to host iv copa del estrecho de pesca this weekend

The Club Náutico Sancti Petri will host the IV Copa del Estrecho de Pesca, an international jigging fishing championship, from 6 to 8 November. The event was presented by Isabel Butrón, the sports delegate, alongside other officials, and is expected to attract more than 200 participants and around 50 boats.

The reception for participants will take place on Thursday at 19:00, followed by a welcome briefing and a meeting for boat captains. The first day of competition is scheduled for Friday, 6 November, from 07:30 to 16:30, with the second day on Saturday, 7 November, following the same schedule. Weighing of the catches will occur upon the boats' return to port, although timings may vary due to weather conditions.

The championship will conclude on 8 November with a closing lunch and awards ceremony at Bodega Miguel Guerra. The first-place winner will receive two gift vouchers worth €2,500 each, while the second and third places will receive vouchers of €1,000 and €500, respectively. Additionally, prizes will be awarded for the largest catch and the most varied catch, with vouchers of €5,000 and €600.

All catches will be donated to Cáritas San Antonio, with proceeds directed towards the organisation's social initiatives. Isabel Butrón emphasised the importance of this event in promoting Chiclana and its charitable nature. Manuel Herrera, president of the Club Náutico, expressed his satisfaction in hosting this competition, the only jigging event in Spain, and thanked sponsors for their support. Andrés Rosado, manager of JLC, noted that the idea for the championship originated from a Moroccan friend, and that Chiclana was chosen thanks to the Club Náutico. Jesús Crespo also expressed gratitude to the Club and the local council for their assistance in organising the event.
