The National Police's Homicide Group has opened an investigation into the death of Jesús de Miguel, a player for CD Tenerife. The 30-year-old forward died on the morning of 3 November at the University Hospital of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where he had been admitted to intensive care the previous night due to a severe injury sustained during a match against Andorra.
The case has been judicialised in order to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident on the pitch.
