Reinosa launches family workshops to explore Europe through art and senses

The town hall of Reinosa, in partnership with the General Directorate of European Funds from the Government of Cantabria, is initiating a series of family workshops called Europe through the senses. This initiative aims to engage participants with European culture, history, and values through creative and participatory activities.

The first two workshops are scheduled for Wednesday, 4 November, starting at 11:00 hours, at the Impluvium. The first workshop, The colours of Europe: cyanotype with family, will allow participants to explore this artistic technique using natural and innovative materials, such as turmeric. Through various textures and techniques, families will work with the colours of the European flag and learn about some of its symbols, utilising sustainable elements linked to the European Green Deal. Each family will create an artistic representation of the European Union flag to take home as a keepsake.

The second workshop, Escifo: Greek ceramics in European Mediterranean, will focus on the ceramics of Ancient Greece. Participants will work with air-dry clay to create their own interpretation of a skyphos, a type of ancient Greek cup, decorated with characteristic motifs from Corinthian pottery, thereby connecting with Europe's artistic and historical heritage.

Families interested in participating must register at La Casona. Children under the age of six must be accompanied by an adult. The series will continue in December with two additional family workshops.
