Zamora showcases its potential as a filming location to cinema professionals

Zamora is welcoming a group of twelve professionals from the film and audiovisual sector for a familiarisation trip, known as a fam trip, taking place from 3 to 5 November 2026. This initiative, driven by the Zamora Provincial Council, the Zamora Chamber of Commerce, and the CEOE (Spanish Confederation of Employers' Organisations), is part of the "Zamora Destino Vital" strategy aimed at showcasing the province's cultural, natural, and scenic resources to those involved in the planning and execution of film shoots.

The event will feature participants with extensive experience in both national and international productions, covering various formats from television fiction and feature films to documentaries and advertisements. Notable attendees include British producer Charlie Leech, known for his work on The Gold for the BBC; José María González-Sinde, producer at Alcalá Producciones and head of Atlantia Media International, with credits including Die Another Day, Sahara, and Game of Thrones; and Portuguese production designer Sérgio Costa, who has worked on titles such as Lost in Fuseta and Color Out of Space.

José Jaime Linares Ibáñez, production director and president of the Association of Audiovisual Production Professionals (APPA), will also participate, along with other industry professionals, providing insights into location scouting from various sector perspectives. The visit aims to blend creative exploration of the region with practical considerations such as access, team coordination, and the resources required for production.

This initiative seeks to introduce industry professionals to diverse locations throughout the province, highlighting the variety of landscapes, rich heritage, and unique natural and architectural spaces. The goal is to position Zamora on the radar of production companies and professionals seeking distinctive settings for their projects.

The fam trip is designed as an immersive experience, allowing participants to engage directly with the territory and exchange ideas with local professionals. The itinerary will cover various sites in Sanabria, Toro, and the capital city of Zamora, showcasing the province's diverse range of settings within an accessible geographical area.

The programme will include visits to contrasting locations, from the natural landscapes of Sanabria to the historical heritage of Toro and Zamora, as well as sites related to vineyards and contemporary architecture. On the first day, 3 November, the itinerary will focus on Sanabria and Puebla de Sanabria, starting with a reception for the group, followed by a tour of Lake Sanabria and its surroundings, concluding in the historic ensemble of Puebla de Sanabria.

On 4 November, the group will visit the Almendra Dam and then proceed to Toro, where they will explore the Collegiate Church of Santa María la Mayor, the Alcázar, and enjoy views over the Duero River and its valley. In the afternoon, participants will travel to Bodega Díscolo in El Pego to discover its architecture and its relationship with the vineyard landscape. The day will wrap up at La Harinera in Zamora at 19:00, where local businesses, film industry professionals, and representatives from the region will gather.

The final day, 5 November, will be dedicated to the capital of Zamora, with planned visits to the Castle, the Advisory Council, and the Ramos Carrión Theatre. These sites will showcase a variety of architectural and urban styles, ranging from historical heritage to contemporary buildings and cultural facilities.

This initiative reflects a commitment to harnessing the province's potential to attract economic activity linked to the audiovisual industry. Filming locations can create opportunities for businesses and professionals across various sectors, including accommodation, catering, transport, technical services, event production, and other ancillary activities. Beyond its promotional aspect, the fam trip aims to foster a closer understanding of the real possibilities the territory offers, facilitating direct contact with locations that may be of interest for future projects. The diverse range of settings is one of Zamora's main attractions, where distinctive natural landscapes, historical ensembles, monumental architecture, rural environments, and spaces linked to economic and cultural activities coexist within the same province.
