The municipality of Rivas-Vaciamadrid has announced a financial surplus of 1.19 million euros for the year 2025, alongside a treasury reserve for general expenses amounting to 5.77 million euros. These figures were disclosed during an extraordinary meeting of the Municipal Corporation.
According to the general account liquidation data, the net savings for 2025 reached 5.02 million euros. The positive figures regarding the treasury reserve enable the local government to maintain its financial resources, meet its obligations, and finance new municipal initiatives. José Luis Alfaro, the Councillor for Finance and Heritage, stated, “We have sound municipal accounts that allow us to continue expanding public services and enhancing our quality of life.”
The municipal government also highlighted a high level of budget execution, with current revenue reaching 100.19% and current expenditure at 97.04%.
Reduction of municipal debt
Additionally, the municipality has reported a significant reduction in its outstanding debt with banks during 2025. The pending obligations decreased by 73.12%, bringing the total down to 2.55 million euros, which has resulted in substantial savings on expenses and financial interests. There was also a notable reduction in consolidated debt, which includes liabilities from the two municipal public companies, EMV and Rivamadrid, with a decrease of 12.62% compared to the previous year.
Local holidays for 2026
In other news, the Rivas Town Council has approved two local holidays for the upcoming year. In 2027, the local holidays will fall on Thursday, 13 May, and Friday, 14 May, coinciding with the celebration of the Rivas festivities.
