In a media briefing in Toledo, Borja Sémper, the deputy secretary for Culture and Sport and national spokesperson for the People's Party (PP), stated that the party will seek the trust of the Spanish people to appoint competent and responsible ministers. He assured that the next transport minister appointed by Alberto Núñez Feijóo will focus on the role rather than social media.
Regarding Carlos Cuerpo, who is set to replace Óscar Puente as the head of the Ministry of Transport, Sémper remarked, "It is absolutely irrelevant who takes on this responsibility. What matters is who will assume it after the elections." He further commented on the current minister, saying, "It is unacceptable to present Óscar Puente as a martyr and an example of management, as Minister Tolón has done today."
Sémper argued that those who take on political responsibilities following poor performance should not expect applause but should leave with humility. He described Puente as a symptom of a toxic political environment designed by Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.
Additionally, he confirmed that President Feijóo will attend the funeral mass for the victims of the Urda accident, stating, "No one should die from an avoidable accident." Sémper also called for a focus on housing, insisting, "We must build housing, build housing, and build housing as if there were no tomorrow," advocating for a new generation of homeowners. He explained, "If you buy a house, you save. If you save, you have assets." When asked about the results of the recent midterm elections in the United States, he expressed his respect for events in Washington but emphasised that he is far more concerned with what is happening in Toledo.
