The Sevilla fecit 2026 exhibition, themed 'Knowledge and tradition made art', is being held from 3 to 25 November at the Ayuntamiento de Sevilla, located in Plaza Nueva. The term 'Fecit', derived from Latin meaning 'made', serves as the conceptual backbone of the exhibition, highlighting the importance of recognising the authorship and work of artists and craftsmen.

Entry to the exhibition is free, with visiting hours from Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 13:30 and 17:00 to 20:00, and Saturdays from 10:00 to 13:30. The showcase features works from professionals associated with the Asociación Gremial Sevillana de Arte Sacro and offers a journey through disciplines such as imagery, goldsmithing, embroidery, carving, painting, restoration, carpentry, and design.

Through these pieces, the exhibition illustrates the coexistence of tradition and innovation, as well as the relevance of artisanal procedures that are passed down through generations and continue to evolve thanks to the talent of current masters. Beyond its aesthetic and religious dimensions, Sevilla fecit 2026 advocates for the cultural, heritage, and economic value of artistic trades, as well as the importance of the workshops and professionals that sustain their continuity.

Manuel Alés, the delegate for Major Festivals at the Ayuntamiento de Sevilla, has emphasised the city's role as a global capital of sacred art and praised the Sevilla fecit 2026 exhibition for showcasing the talent, creativity, and work of professionals from various trades linked to this sector. Alés noted that this exhibition is made possible through the support of the Asociación Gremial Sevillana de Arte Sacro and the collaboration of the Ayuntamiento de Sevilla, highlighting the importance of working together to defend, promote, and give visibility to a sector that is a hallmark of the city.

He also recalled that Seville is an international reference in artistic and artisanal creation related to sacred art, thanks to the experience, knowledge, and tradition of its workshops and professionals. Alés underscored the significance of the Ayuntamiento as a space open to the public and the world of artistic creation, stating that 'the Ayuntamiento is the home of all Sevillanos and also the home of all artists'. This sentiment, he noted, takes on special meaning with the exhibition, which allows citizens to engage with the work of those who keep traditional sacred art trades alive.

Additionally, Manuel Alés mentioned other initiatives promoted by the Ayuntamiento to promote Seville's sacred art, such as the exhibition held in Brussels and the showcase organised at the Castillo de San Jorge. These actions, he highlighted, reflect the city's commitment to the sector and its dedication to promoting the national and international excellence of Seville's artistic and artisanal heritage. In this regard, he reiterated municipal support for the Asociación Gremial Sevillana de Arte Sacro, considering it essential to continue supporting its professionals and workshops to ensure the continuity of trades that are part of the city's cultural, historical, and artistic heritage. This initiative also aims to project Seville's creative capacity externally and solidify its recognition as the global capital of sacred art.
