The Xunta de Galicia has launched a new campaign to enhance the visibility of the Coastal Path, a 1,373-kilometre route aimed at diversifying tourism and promoting sustainable travel.

Xunta promotes tourism along the coastal path

The Xunta de Galicia has unveiled a new promotional campaign for the Coastal Path, an initiative designed to increase awareness of this scenic route along the Galician coast and enhance its enjoyment for both visitors and local residents.

The presentation featured Ángeles Vázquez, the regional Minister for Environment and Climate Change, and Xosé Merelles, the Director of Tourism for Galicia. They emphasised the potential of this itinerary to diversify the tourism offering, promote knowledge of the region's natural and cultural heritage, and support a sustainable tourism model.

Key actions in the campaign include the distribution of promotional materials across the 78 municipalities along the route, featuring posters with QR codes that provide access to the Coastal Path mobile application. Informational materials will also be available at tourist offices, aimed at enhancing the experience for walkers.

Additionally, the initiative plans to improve the mobile application by incorporating tourism information from the Axencia Turismo de Galicia, facilitating stage planning and highlighting the resources and attractions in the areas the path traverses.

This initiative aligns with the objectives of the Galicia Tourism Strategy 2030, which focuses on valuing the coastline, distributing tourist flows, and fostering collaboration between administrations and sector agents to establish a more diverse, accessible, and environmentally respectful tourism offering.
