Almendralejo unveils literary autumn programme for November

Isabel Ballesteros, the councillor for Cultural Action and Promotion, has unveiled the November programme for the Otoño Literario, a literary initiative set to take place in Almendralejo. This event will showcase prominent figures from both national and international literature, alongside local authors and activities aimed at children.

During the announcement, Ballesteros expressed a positive assessment of the activities held in October, noting the enthusiastic response from the public and the full attendance at the recent event featuring writer Sara Mesa.

She highlighted the success of the storytelling sessions held on Fridays at the Municipal Library, which will continue in November with sessions focused on education in values, scheduled for 6, 13, and 20 November, led by Divadlo Producciones.

Key events in November

The November programme will kick off on 4 November with Lorenzo Silva, a leading figure in contemporary Spanish literature, who will present his work Con nadie, a narrative centred around the historical figure of General Miguel Campins in the context of 1936. The event will be introduced by Pilar Galán.

On 13 November, Rubén Caballero González will present Renacer, de la oscuridad a la luz, a personal testimony on resilience and overcoming challenges, with Fernando Carmona as the presenter.

Almendralejo will welcome the acclaimed writer Víctor del Árbol on 18 November, who will introduce Las buenas intenciones, the concluding novel of his crime trilogy exploring themes of power, guilt, and revenge. Rosa Zamoro will present this event.

These three events will take place at 20:30 in the Centro Cultural San Antonio, with free entry until full capacity is reached.

Additional activities

The programme will continue on 25 November with two activities. At 12:00, the Teatro Carolina Coronado will host a school and children's event featuring Beatriz Osés, a well-known author in Spanish children's and young adult literature, presented by José María Galavís. Later that day, at 20:30, Loli Galeano will present El ebanista del Cristo Negro, a work linked to local heritage and history, with Antonio Carretero Melo introducing the event.

On 26 November, Pilar Fernández Jiménez will present the children's story Cuando la luna se escondió, which addresses values such as inclusion and diversity. This presentation will be introduced by the councillor for Equality, Tamara Rodríguez Mesías.

As a complement to this activity, the Children's Room of the Municipal Library will host a storytelling session based on this work on 27 November at 18:00, aimed at engaging young readers through a participatory experience.

Additionally, on 27 November, a virtual tour using 3D glasses will be held, showcasing some of Spain's most iconic museums and monuments. This activity will require prior registration.

Ballesteros encouraged the citizens of Almendralejo and the surrounding Tierra de Barros region to participate in the various offerings, emphasising the importance of maintaining a cultural programme that brings literature to all audiences and fosters reading habits among younger generations. All activities will be free and open to the public until full capacity is reached, except for the virtual tour, which requires prior registration.
