Cáceres to host the 11th Ibero-American rural tourism and agrotourism meeting from 9 to 15 November

The province of Cáceres is set to become the international hub for rural tourism with the upcoming 11th Ibero-American Rural Tourism and Agrotourism Meeting, scheduled to take place from 9 to 15 November in Guadalupe. This event will bring together representatives from 22 Ibero-American countries for a technical and institutional tour across various regions of Cáceres.

The meeting will focus on two strategic priorities: tourist intelligence and agrotourism as key drivers for rural tourism development. One of the anticipated outcomes of the gathering is the establishment of the first Ibero-American agrotourism routes.

Organised in collaboration with the Ibero-American Institute of Rural Tourism (IBEROATUR), this forum has become one of the most significant platforms for exchange, reflection, and cooperation among stakeholders involved in rural tourism, agrotourism, and territorial development in Ibero-America.

Delegations from 22 Ibero-American countries will participate, including representatives from public institutions, local governments, academic circles, tourism businesses, entrepreneurs, and rural development agents. Over the course of seven working days, attendees will share methodologies, success stories, and management models aimed at enhancing competitiveness, sustainability, and innovation in inland destinations.

The programme will feature four thematic panels focusing on the implementation of the Smart Tourist Destinations (DTI) model in rural areas, the creation and marketing of experiences, the application of technology in management, and the establishment of cooperation frameworks. In addition to presentations and discussion panels, there will be complementary activities such as networking sessions, guided tours of historical sites, and technical visits to exemplary rural tourism and agrotourism initiatives, including Glamping El Regajo and El Jardín de las Delizias in the Jerte Valley, as well as Quesería Doña Francisca in Casar de Cáceres.

This structure aims to promote mutual learning and knowledge transfer, fostering cooperation among institutions, professionals, and local agents from the participating countries. A key outcome of the meeting will be the creation of the first Ibero-American agrotourism routes, open to participation from the tourist destinations represented.

Registration remains open for professionals, businesses, and those interested in the sector, with options ranging from general passes to single-day tickets for specific sessions.
