Carlos Calero, the councillor for proximity in Albacete, has underscored the municipal commitment to preserving and promoting popular traditions during his visit to the 39th Saffron Rose Festival held in Santa Ana. He was accompanied by local leader Juan José Segura and Alberto Montesinos, the director of the Abuela Santa Ana Folklore Group.

Calero attended the traditional saffron harvesting competition, one of the festival's main attractions, which this year features a diverse programme of activities, including a craft fair, an exhibition of traditional clothing, a culinary corner, and the National Folklore Festival, showcasing performances by the host group, Abuela Santa Ana.

The councillor praised the contributions of the local districts to the rural identity of the municipality, highlighting their essential role in distinguishing the Albacete brand. He congratulated the Abuela Santa Ana Folklore Group for their efforts in promoting folklore and traditions, as well as the residents of the district for their involvement in making this festival a success once again.

Additionally, Calero joined in recognising Patrocinio Felipe, a member of the Abuela Santa Ana Folklore Group, who was posthumously awarded the 2026 Saffron Prize for his lifelong dedication to agriculture and saffron cultivation.
