CD Tenerife held a poignant tribute to Jesús de Miguel on Saturday, 7 November, at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium, drawing thousands of supporters, season ticket holders, and fans. The event was a heartfelt farewell to the white-and-blue forward, celebrating his career and the moments shared with the club.
From early afternoon, fans filled the stands of the Heliodoro Rodríguez López to support the club during a day marked by grief and remembrance for the late footballer. The ceremony was attended by several institutional and football representatives, including Manuel Domínguez, Vice President of the Canary Islands; Rosa Dávila, President of the Cabildo of Tenerife; José Manuel Bermúdez, Mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife; Felipe Miñambres, President of CD Tenerife; Rayco García, the club's majority shareholder; Rafael Louzán, President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation; and Javier Tebas, President of LaLiga.
A delegation from UD Las Palmas also attended, led by President Miguel Ángel Ramírez, Vice President Nicolás Ortega, and club ambassador Daniel Carnevali, demonstrating solidarity between the two Canary Island teams.
CD Tenerife players participated in the tribute dressed entirely in black, symbolising mourning for their lost teammate. The farewell was particularly challenging for the white-and-blue squad. The stadium observed a moment of silence in memory of Jesús de Miguel, which was later broken by the applause of the fans, marking one of the most emotional moments of the day.
Following a heartfelt minute of silence, Felipe Miñambres, CD Tenerife President; Enric Gallego, team captain; and Rayco García, the club's majority shareholder, spoke to remember and bid farewell to Jesús de Miguel, affectionately known as ‘Demi’. Clearly moved and holding back tears, they shared words of love and tribute to a figure who was deeply cherished within the white-and-blue family.
