Additionally, 'Numakage Piscina Pública' is the documentary of the month, scheduled for November. It will be screened in a hybrid format, available in thirty-two cinemas across Catalonia, six in the Valencian Community, and one in the Balearic Islands, as well as online in five virtual cinemas in Catalonia. The documentary explores the collective mourning surrounding the demolition of Numakage, a suburban public swimming pool in Tokyo that has served as a gathering place for the elderly, families, and the gay cruising community for over fifty years. The film follows the community's grief through the five stages of Kübler-Ross, questioning a loss typically reserved for human death. Docs del Mes is an initiative of the DocsBarcelona International Documentary Film Festival, aimed at bringing quality documentary films to a wider audience and fostering a regular viewing habit among the public beyond festival settings.
