The Centre d'Art i Cultura de la Diputació de Tarragona in Tortosa has inaugurated the exhibition 'NatuRareza' by internationally acclaimed artist Alberto Bustos. The exhibition, which opened on Tuesday afternoon, showcases 16 ceramic sculptures that poetically and experimentally explore the relationship between nature and its gradual degradation caused by human activity.
Attending the inauguration was Óscar Sánchez, the deputy delegate for Social and Cultural Promotion. Under the concept of NatuRareza, Bustos invites viewers to immerse themselves in an ecosystem of sculptural forms that evoke constantly transforming plant and mineral organisms.
The pieces, primarily made of stoneware and porcelain through a completely manual experimental technique, are characterised by geometries inspired by natural patterns and a construction method based on the repetition of various elements.
Born in Valladolid in 1972 and currently residing in Bellvei (Tarragona), Alberto Bustos is a self-taught artist recognised internationally for his unique exploration of natural forms. He has been awarded the title of 'Honorable Master' in China and has received numerous accolades and exhibited internationally in countries such as France, Italy, and Germany. His work has also been featured in prestigious contemporary ceramics journals.
In conjunction with the exhibition, the Centre d'Art i Cultura will host a masterclass and workshop led by Bustos in Tortosa and Valls. This workshop is part of a collaborative initiative between the Diputació de Tarragona and the Montblanc Town Council, coinciding with the 2026 International Ceramics Festival Terrània. The sessions aim to create spaces for interaction, learning, and exchange among creators, artists, and the public interested in contemporary ceramic practices.
Participants will have the opportunity to gain insight into the techniques and creative processes of the artist, who is known for works that establish a profound dialogue between material and nature. With extensive teaching experience gained through workshops and courses across Europe, Asia, and America, Bustos will share his methodology, which emphasises experimentation, respect for materials, and observation of natural processes.
