The Santander City Council, in collaboration with the Cantabria Medical Association, is promoting six free cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) workshops across various civic centres in the city. The cycle of workshops will commence this evening at the Tabacalera civic centre.
Lorena Gutiérrez, the councillor for neighbourhoods, stated that the initiative aims to equip residents with the essential knowledge needed to act confidently in the event of a cardiac emergency, thereby increasing the chances of survival for individuals experiencing a cardiac arrest.
Emphasising that every second counts during a cardiac incident, the workshops will last one hour and will teach participants the fundamental steps to take until medical services arrive. According to Gutiérrez, the proposal seeks to raise awareness about the importance of knowing how to respond in such situations and the crucial role that any bystander can play during an emergency.
