Galapagar library celebrates international flamenco day with special events

The Galapagar Town Council is celebrating International Flamenco Day with a series of special events organised in collaboration with the Peña Flamenca Amigos del Cante. The programme, which runs until 19 November, aims to engage the local community and provide insights into the music, history, and various expressions of flamenco.

The festivities will kick off with an exhibition titled 'Flamenco' by local artist Darifé, which will be on display at the Biblioteca Ricardo León until 15 November. This showcase offers a unique perspective on flamenco through the artist's work.

On Friday 13 November at 19:00, the Biblioteca Ricardo León will host the flamenco recital 'Amigos del Cante'. Attendees will be treated to a performance followed by a traditional Spanish wine reception.

The following event will take place on Monday 16 November at 19:00, featuring a conference titled 'Introduction to the styles of Flamenco', also at the Biblioteca Ricardo León. This session will provide an opportunity to explore the different styles that characterise this art form.

The programme will conclude on Thursday 19 November at 18:00 with an open day at La Posada, marking the final celebration of the activities. This initiative is supported by the Galapagar Town Council, the Biblioteca Ricardo León, Radio Galapagar, and the Peña Flamenca Amigos del Cante.
