Reus neighbourhoods celebrate anniversaries of local associations with Gaudí-inspired activities

The Department of Citizen Relations is launching the project "Neighbourhoods are celebrating anniversaries inspired by Gaudí" during November, aimed at blending culture, citizen participation, and community togetherness to mark the anniversaries of several local associations in Reus.

This initiative, supported by the Tarragona Provincial Council through a grant of €35,000, will bring cultural, family-friendly, and recreational activities to different neighbourhoods in Reus. The goal is to acknowledge the contributions of the neighbourhood movement and strengthen community ties.

The project pays tribute to local associations celebrating significant anniversaries this year, coinciding with milestones of 10, 20, 40, and 50 years of activity. Over the years, these entities have played a vital role in improving the neighbourhoods and have become spaces for participation, coexistence, and social dynamism.

Activities will take place on weekends throughout November in the neighbourhoods of Pastoreta, Jardins de Reus, Sol i Vista, Mas Pellicer, Gaudí, Montserrat, Santuari, and Clarisses. Associations from Xalets Quintana and Inmaculada already held their commemorative events during the summer.

The programme includes creative and family workshops, participatory proposals inspired by the works of Antoni Gaudí, musical performances, vermouth concerts, communal breakfasts, and other activities open to the public. The figure of the Reus-born architect serves as a common thread for a series of actions that bring culture closer to the neighbourhoods and highlight one of the city’s key heritage and identity references.

Beyond the anniversary celebrations, the project aims to emphasise the role of local associations as key agents in social cohesion and citizen participation. It also seeks to promote collaborative work between the City Council, entities, and various local stakeholders to foster shared actions that contribute to the vitality of the neighbourhoods.

Among the project's objectives are the dissemination of Antoni Gaudí's figure and legacy, the promotion of local culture, the strengthening of the associative fabric, and the creation of meeting spaces that encourage coexistence and citizen participation. This initiative aligns with the strategic lines of the Municipal Action Plan 2023-2027, which aims to ensure access to culture throughout the city and reinforce the role of local entities as engines of participation and community building.
