The immersive exhibition 'Vidas que cuentan', featuring mirrors, celebrates the essential work of both family and professional caregivers. Organised by the Móstoles City Council through the Department of Contracting, Elderly Affairs and Social Welfare, this is the third edition of the itinerant exhibition, which will begin at the Museo de la Ciudad and travel to various municipal locations.
The exhibition's opening coincides with International Caregivers' Day, observed annually on 5 November. Attendees at the Museo de la Ciudad included the mayor, Manuel Bautista; the first deputy mayor and councillor for Security, Emergencies and Environment, Gabriel Monteserín; and the councillor for Contracting, Elderly Affairs and Social Welfare, Raquel Guerrero, along with technical staff and members of the municipal corporation. A manifesto was read in honour of the day, themed 'Look, inside and out', and certificates were presented to participating caregivers.
This itinerant exhibition will be on display at the Museo de la Ciudad until 18 December, followed by the Centro Sociocultural Norte-Universidad from 20 January to 11 February 2027, the Centro Cultural Villa de Móstoles from 16 February to 11 March, and the Centro de Servicios Sociales from 15 March to 30 April.
This project aims to recognise and appreciate the efforts of those who care for individuals who are ill, elderly, or disabled, including both family and professional caregivers. In this new edition, mirrors serve as a key element, symbolising reflection, self-awareness, and the importance of self-care in the caregiving journey.
