As part of the XV Textile Days, the Espacio Caldes has hosted a workshop titled 'Tejiendo memorias', which placed women over 60 at the forefront. Organised by the If Circus company, the initiative focused on collaboratively creating a rope harness, woven by the hands of all participants, to be used in the performance 'Melic' on Saturday night.
Beyond the tangible creation, the workshop aimed to provide a space for gathering, expression, and creativity, allowing participants to share their life experiences and reflections. Mar Olive and Shalom Gramiccioli from If Circus commented, 'This activity aims to connect with the collective memory of manual work associated with weaving and crochet. Some participants already know each other, while others do not. They have been able to spend this hour weaving and chatting together.'
This initiative utilises textiles and performing arts not only as artistic disciplines but also as a community bridge to give voice to the living memory of women. The If Circus company has emphasised the importance of providing these spaces for older women and highlighting the value of the work they have carried out over the years.
