Arinsal trial event attracts over 300 competitors

The 24th edition of the Trial d'Arinsal is set to feature more than 300 competitors, alongside a large number of spectators. Bet Rossell, the Sports and Dynamisation councillor, has emphasised that this event has become a hallmark of the village of Arinsal, known for its strong community spirit.

Rossell also praised the organisational team for ensuring that most areas are accessible to the public, enhancing the spectator experience. While many participants are enthusiasts, the event will also host a number of international competitors, including four-time indoor world champion and two-time outdoor champion Adam Raga, as well as other notable figures such as Marc Coma, Josep Garcia, Casey Stoner, Iker Lecuona, Chaz Davies, Leon Camier, Miquel Gelabert, and Christian España. Competitors will represent around a dozen countries.

In addition to Spanish riders, Andorran participants include Ramon Sucarrat, Kikou Lasmolles, Alexia Lladó, Valentí Cristina, and Aitana Núñez. Notably, downhill rider Greg Minnaar will also compete, switching from mountain biking to trial riding for this event.

Josep Punti, president of the Motoclub de Arinsal, expressed satisfaction with the high level of participation and the quality of the competitors. “Arinsal has become a meeting point for riders, who come to compete but also to enjoy the surroundings and the atmosphere,” Punti stated, noting that the number of participants has reached its limit to ensure quality and safety.

On the competitive side, the event will feature 18 zones spread over 43 kilometres. Of these, ten zones will be accessible to the public, allowing spectators to fully enjoy the competition. The first competitor will depart at 7:30 am from the centre of Arinsal, with subsequent riders starting every 30 seconds. This year, a river section has been reintroduced, featuring four zones, with a total of eight water zones designed to address the current temperatures.

Additionally, Sandra Bonet, the entity's vice-president, confirmed that all safety measures have been coordinated with Civil Protection and the Fire Brigade. Each zone will be equipped with a fire extinguisher, and water supplies will be distributed along the course. Competitors are also subject to restrictions, including staying on designated routes, not handling batteries, and refraining from carrying flammable materials.

To enhance the local economy, all participants will receive a ten-euro voucher to redeem at participating restaurants in Arinsal. Previous years have shown positive returns from this initiative, as competitors often share meals with friends and family at local establishments. The Trial d'Arinsal is made possible by the efforts of around one hundred volunteers, contributing to both the competitive and logistical aspects of the event.
