València announces grants for fallas commissions with a budget of €2.7 million

The València City Council has approved a grant scheme aimed at supporting fallas commissions for the 2027 celebrations, with a total budget of €2,694,438.49. The grants will assist with the construction of both large and children's fallas, traditional monuments that are a central part of the city's annual Fallas festival.

Commissions interested in applying can do so from the day after the announcement is published in the Official Provincial Bulletin (BOP), with a submission period of 20 calendar days. To qualify for the grants, fallas commissions must be non-profit entities registered with the Central Fallera Board and listed in the Municipal Register of Citizen Entities of València before the application deadline.

According to the approved guidelines, the grants will cover 30% of the taxable base of each monument, based on data provided by the Central Fallera Board. To be eligible for funding, a minimum investment of €2,500 (excluding VAT) is required for children's fallas, and €3,500 (excluding VAT) for large fallas. If the cost of a monument exceeds that of the equivalent fallas in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, the excess will not be considered in the calculation.

The grants are intended to support expenses related to the design and construction of the fallas, or, in the case of original works, for construction materials and insurance policies for their installation. However, certain costs are explicitly excluded, such as recoverable or compensable indirect taxes, rental expenses, and utility costs.

The grant application process will be non-competitive, and submissions must be made electronically. Justifying accounts for expenses incurred by the commissions must be submitted through the municipal electronic headquarters between 20 March and 5 May 2027. This documentation must include invoices, proof of payment, and required information regarding the public nature of the funding.
