The director of Tourism of Galicia, Xosé Merelles, signed a collaboration agreement this morning with the mayor of A Estrada, Gonzalo Louzao Dono, to recover the recreational area at the riverside beach of the río Liñares and reform the existing building for public use. This initiative aims to boost tourism services in A Estrada and restore a unique space linked to the river environment, located in a natural setting close to the urban centre.
The project will improve current conditions, making the area more comfortable and accessible for both residents and visitors. Planned renovations include the renewal of the perimeter fencing and the creation of a footpath at the front of the site, as well as the upgrading of existing pathways and access points to enhance accessibility.
Additionally, the intervention will involve new electrical, water supply, sanitation, and lighting installations. New pedestrian pathways and a riverside promenade will be constructed using an elevated wooden walkway, alongside the expansion and enhancement of the natural beach area and sunbathing zones, providing new spaces for bathers.
Efforts will also be made to manage the surrounding vegetation, promoting the conservation of native species while removing invasive ones. The project will renew facilities for beach users, including accessible changing rooms, showers, and toilets.
Furthermore, an open space will be created for social and cultural activities, featuring a versatile central element that can serve as a stage.
