Xunta promotes 'Redondela en el Camino' campaign to connect local commerce and heritage

Gabriel Alén, the director general of Commerce and Consumption, attended the launch of the 'Redondela en el Camino' campaign, an initiative designed to boost local commerce and highlight the historical significance of Redondela. The campaign, organised by the Redondela Business Association, includes a commercial fair and an exhibition titled 'Redondela: the commercial history of the town'.

This open-air commercial initiative is taking place over two days and has been recognised for its excellence alongside four other projects in this year's regional funding allocations for such entities. During the inauguration, Alén emphasised the strategic importance of Redondela, which is situated along the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route, serving as a junction for two variants of the Portuguese Way: the Central and the Coastal routes. This geographical advantage enhances the visibility and impact of the campaign.

The activities aim to transform the influx of pilgrims and visitors into an opportunity to promote local commerce and foster new synergies among various economic and social sectors. The programme unfolds throughout the town's commercial area and features a fair showcasing businesses from different sectors, local products, and crafts.

Additionally, the exhibition is located in Ponteareas Square and offers a historical overview of local commerce through photographs, explanatory panels, and items related to the town's commercial heritage. The programme also includes children's entertainment, cultural activities, demonstrations, workshops, and artistic interventions spread across the commercial zone, aimed at enhancing interaction between commerce, culture, heritage, and the community. Promotional activities such as discounts, prizes, and raffles are also part of the initiative.
