Casa das Artes to host expanded Christmas nativity exhibition

The Casa das Artes in Vigo will once again host a traditional Christmas nativity exhibition, which has been expanded by 25 square metres. The exhibition will feature a children's nativity scene, photographic displays, individual scenes, guided tours, and a photocall, with a total budget of €98,849.

The Xunta de Goberno is set to approve the contract for the nativity display for the 2026-27 Christmas campaign. The contract has been awarded to Agrupación Belenística La Morana, which will install a monumental nativity scene covering nearly 100 square metres.

The central piece of the exhibition will have an educational and didactic focus, incorporating elements that represent the landscape, heritage, and history of Vigo. Potential representations include a fish market, the Romanesque facade of a church, an ornamental fountain, a dolmen, petroglyphs, salt pans, basket makers, a mill, and a laundry area.

The project will feature five elements linked to the city and will offer 50 hours of guided activities for educational centres. Additionally, the exhibition will include a 40-square-metre children's nativity scene, showcasing some of the most well-known Christmas scenes, along with an exhibition of at least 30 photographs integrated into a nativity-themed setting. Individual scenes will also be part of the itinerary designed for visitors.
