The Castilla-La Mancha government has underscored the importance of sporting events in enhancing tourism, stimulating economic activity, and showcasing regional heritage, as it announced the upcoming XIX Toledo Night Race, set to take place on Saturday, 17 October.
Carlos Yuste, the regional director of Youth and Sports, participated in the event's presentation, noting that last year's race attracted 5,700 runners from 42 Spanish provinces and various countries. He highlighted the event's ability to blend sport, heritage, and solidarity, as well as its positive impact on sectors such as hospitality and services.
Yuste linked these events to the draft Law on Physical Activity and Sport in Castilla-La Mancha, which is currently open for public participation until 22 October. This legislation aims to establish a strategy for developing the sports economy, connecting sports activities with tourism, innovation, employment, and regional development, while also addressing issues related to safety, inclusion, and sustainability.
Additionally, Yuste announced that the Alcázar de San Juan Residence for Athletes will host the III International Congress on Physical Activity and Sport in Castilla-La Mancha on 23 and 24 November. Registrations for the congress will open on Friday, 16 October. The event is aimed at educators, coaches, researchers, and professionals in the field, covering topics such as team management, communication, leadership in team sports, and physical preparation in endurance sports, combining scientific knowledge with practical experience.
Finally, Yuste expressed gratitude to the organisers, collaborating entities, security and emergency services, and volunteers for their contributions to the Toledo Night Race, particularly highlighting its charitable aspect and the work of the Niemann-Pick Foundation of Spain, APANAS, and the Marathon association, which promotes a message of resilience.
