Cervera warns of the threat posed by Andorra ahead of Sunday’s match

CD Tenerife will host FC Andorra this Sunday at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium, with the crucial aim of securing three points and breaking the visitors' recent winning streak.

Coach Álvaro Cervera has highlighted the challenges of the upcoming match, stating that Andorra "can cause significant damage" if they find space to implement their style of play. He emphasised the urgency of a victory, noting, "We need to win soon because, if not, everything we do or fail to do will be forgotten." Cervera acknowledged that his team has competed well in several matches they did not win but insisted that results ultimately outweigh any other assessments.

Cervera praised Andorra's attractive footballing approach but cautioned that Tenerife could struggle against their ball circulation unless they enter the match with "clear ideas." He stressed the importance of limiting Andorra's offensive opportunities and avoiding a back-and-forth exchange that could benefit the quality players in the visiting side.

The coach explained that the accumulation of travel and the lack of full training sessions have impacted their preparation for the match, as they have only been able to train together for two days. He admitted that the team may arrive "more fatigued" than usual, although he remains confident that their physical conditioning and gathered data will allow them to face the match adequately.

Regarding squad availability, Cervera confirmed the absences of Salifo, Alassan, Baba, and Chapela. The latter has begun training with the group but is not yet match-ready, while César Álvarez continues to experience discomfort in a finger, and Víctor Moreno has fully recovered.

On tactical plans, Cervera indicated that Tenerife might frequently adopt a formation with "three in the middle," especially while Enric Gallego leads the attack, as he believes this setup could benefit the team. This change would see Nacho Gil positioned as an attacking midfielder, pushing Víctor Moreno to his natural wide position.

Finally, the blanquiazul coach ruled out altering his strategy to create a more defensive team despite conceding goals. He argued that it is normal to concede in the Segunda División due to the quality of the opponents, so Tenerife must also focus on enhancing their offensive capabilities without abandoning their intended style of play.
