About José García Cano

Born in Consuegra in 1973, José García Cano is a historian, researcher, educator, and communicator deeply connected to the cultural heritage of the province of Toledo, particularly Consuegra. For over thirty years, he has studied and shared the history of the town from various cultural, historical, and artistic perspectives.

One of his research focuses is the Order of Saint John in the region of La Mancha, as Consuegra served as its capital for more than six centuries, which is central to his publications. Since 2017, he has been a corresponding academic at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and Historical Sciences of Toledo.

García Cano has also been actively involved in local associations, such as the Medieval Battle Cultural Association, where he played a significant role in organising the “Consuegra Medieval” event. He has served as a founding member and secretary of the Francisco Domínguez Tendero Centre for Consaburense Studies, promoting and disseminating the history of Consuegra.

His contributions include participating in various events organised by the Town Council, such as the Saffron Rose Festival and other cultural activities. His extensive work aligns with the criteria established for the official chronicler role, demonstrating profound knowledge of the town's history, scientific publications, and significant outreach activities.

The council expresses gratitude to García Cano for his dedication over the years and his commitment to enhancing the understanding of Consuegra's history. Today, we have the opportunity to officially recognise his contributions and entrust him with a responsibility that he is well-equipped to fulfil.
