The civivoxinthemapping festival, dedicated to performing arts for young children, will be held at civivox mendillorri from 5 to 29 November. The event aims to engage infants and their families through a variety of artistic experiences, including music, visuals, movement, and theatre.
This year’s festival includes three performances, an interactive installation, a short film competition, and a professional roundtable. All activities require prior registration through the civivox network, and both adults and infants must have tickets to attend.
One of the highlights is the exhibition ‘La primera mirada’, featuring photographs by Adolfo Lacunza and Iñaki Porto. This exhibition captures the history of the festival through the eyes of young spectators and their families, showcasing performances from local, national, and international companies since 2012.
Maider Beloki Unzu, the councillor for culture, festivities, and sports, presented the festival alongside artist Ana Rosa Sánchez Velasco and art historian Elena Eraso. The first performance, ‘Bihotz Bihotzez’ / ‘De todo corazón’, will be presented by the Rosa A. García Company on 7 November, with sessions at 10:30 am (in Spanish) and 12:00 pm (in Basque). This show invites children aged 2 to 5, accompanied by an adult, to explore theatre through a poetic journey filled with music and emotions.
The interactive installation ‘Polen’, created by Elena Eraso Art & Peques, will take place on 14 November, also in two sessions. Aimed at children aged 2 to 4, this installation immerses them in a landscape of light and air, encouraging exploration and discovery without a fixed narrative.
On 15 November, the short film competition ‘Mi primer festival de cine’ will be held for children aged 3 to 5, featuring a curated selection of age-appropriate short films. This event is organised in collaboration with the international children’s film festival in Barcelona and Madrid.
The following week, on 21 November, a puppet theatre performance titled ‘Plenilunio’ will be presented for children aged 1 to 5, exploring themes of waiting and growth through playful language and music.
Finally, on 28 November, the performance ‘Parpadeo’, designed for infants up to two years old, will offer a poetic journey that aligns with the natural rhythms of babies, incorporating live music and sensory experiences.
A professional roundtable titled ‘Creando con la primera infancia’ will take place on 27 November at 7:00 pm, focusing on experiences in early childhood education and the performing arts.
