Don Juan Tenorio, the romantic drama penned by José Zorrilla in 1844, will be brought to the present day by the theatre company Ruido Interno this Saturday, 7 November, at Teatro Vimenor in Vioño. This performance marks the first of five theatrical events scheduled by the municipality of Piélagos this November, taking place on Saturdays and Sundays at 19:30.
“Don Juan, cenizas y sombras” offers a contemporary reinterpretation of Don Juan Tenorio, featuring a selection of its most significant scenes. While maintaining the essence of Zorrilla's original verses, the production aims to present the work through a modern lens, allowing audiences to rediscover the classic from a fresh perspective.
A key objective of this production is to take artistic risks by incorporating technological resources that expand the dramatic space, enabling the portrayal of traditionally complex or less-explored scenes in conventional adaptations. For instance, the cemetery scene is set to take on a visually and symbolically powerful dimension, enhancing its poetic impact.
