UD Las Palmas will play against CD Eldense this Sunday in LaLiga Hypermotion's 13th matchday, wearing their third kit as a tribute to Jesús de Miguel Alameda, a player for CD Tenerife who passed away on Tuesday. The match is scheduled for 17:30 at the Estadio Gran Canaria and will serve as an occasion to remember Jesús, with the team's white and blue colours symbolising their support.
This initiative aims to express respect, affection, and solidarity towards CD Tenerife, as well as to convey support to Jesús's family, friends, and teammates during this time of profound sorrow.
Both UD Las Palmas and CD Eldense are also seeking permission to pause the game at the ninth minute, in honour of Jesús de Miguel, who wore that number while playing for CD Tenerife.
Additionally, UD Las Palmas will send a delegation to the Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on Saturday, where a public mass will be held at 18:00 in memory of the deceased player. The event is expected to draw a large crowd.
UD Las Palmas hopes these gestures will demonstrate unity within Canary Islands football in light of a loss that transcends any sporting rivalry, as stated by the Gran Canaria club.
