The Cabildo de La Palma has announced the first phase of the environmental and landscape restoration project for Montaña Tenisca, located in Los Llanos de Aridane. This initiative, driven by the local government, aims to construct public facilities to enhance accessibility, highlight the scenic surroundings, and create new spaces for social, cultural, and tourist use.
Insular president Sergio Rodríguez stated that the intervention seeks to transform Montaña Tenisca into an accessible public space that serves as a reference point for both residents and visitors, taking advantage of its scenic views over the Tajogaite volcano flow, the Caldera de Taburiente National Park, and the urban area of Los Llanos de Aridane.
Mayor Javier Llamas emphasised the commitment to revitalising the area by creating green spaces that prioritise pedestrian mobility and improve the overall appearance of Montaña Tenisca.
This first phase of the project, which is being tendered for a total of €2.6 million, includes the construction of a vertical communication hub equipped with an elevator, lift, and staircase, connecting Francisca de Gazmira Street to the upper part of the mountain. Additionally, a multi-use facility will be established, initially intended for a restaurant, with complementary spaces for social, cultural, and sporting activities, as well as a scenic viewpoint integrated with the Castillo de la Virgen.
The project also encompasses the installation of a photovoltaic pergola for electricity generation and shading, the construction of a kiosk, the landscaping and paving of outdoor areas, the creation of a cistern for rainwater collection and reuse, and the widening of Castillo Street to facilitate service access to the facilities.
This initiative is part of the 'En Los Llanos de Aridane, La Vida Renace' project, linked to the Sustainable Tourism Plans in Destinations. Interested companies can submit their bids until 12 November.
