Joseba Asiron, the mayor of Pamplona, along with Maider Beloki Unzu, the councillor for Culture, Festivals and Sports, and Íñigo Gómez Eguíluz, the head of the department, received the new board of La Pamplonesa music band on Tuesday in his office. The board officially took office this month following the resignation of the previous board on 15 September.

During the visit, the delegation included the band’s president, Jose Javier Zazpe Calvo; vice president, Aingeru Otxotorena Labairu; board member Rubén Velasco Azcona; and coordinator Lurdes López Salinas. They discussed the current situation of the band, which has recently seen Carlos Sancho Cantus serve as guest conductor after the retirement of Vicent Egea Insa, who stepped down as a professor at the Conservatorio Superior de Navarra upon reaching the age of 65.

Founded in 1919, La Pamplonesa participates in various official events organised by the city council, including the processions for San Fermín, San Saturnino, and the Privilege of the Union. The band performs at the dianas during San Fermín, as well as several concerts open to the public and events at the Teatro Gayarre as part of the winter, spring, and autumn cycles, zarzuela galas, and Christmas concerts.
