Tourism in the Pyrenees and Terres de Lleida sees record summer figures

The tourism sector in the Pyrenees and Terres de Lleida has concluded the summer season with a total of 616,053 tourists, generating 1,601,452 overnight stays. This represents an increase of nearly 2% in visitors and a 1% rise in accommodation nights compared to 2025, according to provisional data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

Juan Antonio Serrano, Vice President of the Tourism Board of the Lleida Provincial Council, stated, “We have concluded a summer in which we recorded the highest figures for visitors and overnight stays to date, a fact that reinforces our leadership as an inland destination.”

Breaking down the figures by sector, hotels welcomed 364,931 tourists and recorded 799,306 overnight stays, which is approximately 5% less than in 2025. Campsites saw an increase, receiving 182,902 visitors and 602,638 overnight stays, marking a 12.14% and 9.61% rise, respectively. Rural tourism houses attracted 45,283 tourists and 129,343 overnight stays, reflecting a 29.22% and 11.72% increase. Meanwhile, tourist apartments recorded 22,937 visitors and 70,165 overnight stays, which is a 4.37% increase in visitors but a 9.52% decrease in overnight stays.

Serrano also highlighted the rise in international tourists, with 124,483 foreign visitors contributing to 285,169 overnight stays in the Pyrenees and Terres de Lleida this summer. He emphasised that “the work we are doing to diversify tourism is bearing fruit, as September saw the highest growth, with nearly 9% more tourists and 10% more overnight stays than last summer.”

The results from this summer demonstrate “the region's ability to continue attracting both domestic and international visitors, which also helps secure jobs and opportunities for the local population.”
